DBTA Service 

What does the service offer

This service supports children and young people who are struggling to manage strong emotions, may be self-harming, acting on impulse, or finding relationships difficult. It includes talking therapies such as DBT for teenagers, alongside support to help younger children understand and manage their feelings.

How can it help? 

It helps young people develop safer ways to cope, feel more in control of their emotions, reduce harmful behaviours, and build confidence and resilience.

Who’s it for? 

For children and young people aged 5+, with DBT available for ages 13–18.

How is it delivered?

Delivered face-to-face or online, through one-to-one and group sessions, usually lasting 3 to 6 months.

Counselling and Creative Therapies Service 

What does the service offer?

This service provides counselling and creative therapies for children, young people and families who have experienced trauma or difficult childhood experiences. It supports those dealing with low self‑esteem, behaviour challenges or relationship difficulties. Creative approaches (such as art‑based or play‑based therapies) are used alongside counselling to help young people explore emotions, build resilience and learn healthier ways to cope.

How can it help?

The service helps young people understand their feelings, improve confidence, manage difficult behaviours, build stronger relationships and find safer ways to cope with stress or past experiences.

Who is it for?

Children and young people aged 5+, and their families.

How is it delivered?

  • One‑to‑one or group sessions, depending on need
  • Face‑to‑face or online
