What does the service offer?
CHUMS provides specialist support for children and young people who have experienced complicated grief or traumatic bereavement. The service helps them learn about grief, understand and manage difficult emotions, develop helpful ways of thinking, process trauma, keep healthy connections to the person who died, and think about their future. Support also involves parents and caregivers where helpful.
How can it help?
The service helps young people feel more able to cope with their grief, make sense of what has happened, reduce emotional distress, and build confidence and resilience. It also supports families to understand the young person’s needs and to help them feel safer and more supported.
Who is it for?
Children and young people aged 4–17, and up to 25 for care leavers or young people with SEND.
How is it delivered:
- Across Kent: One‑to‑one support and therapeutic groups.
- Who can join: Children, young people, parents/carers, and professionals.
