The Kent Therapeutic Support Service (or ‘TSS’) supports children and young people in Kent who are experiencing ‘mild to moderate’ mental health and emotional wellbeing challenges.
We use an approach called ‘i-Thrive’ to understand your needs and to make decisions about the support that suits you best. If we believe that the Kent Therapeutic Support Service might be helpful, you are likely to be seeking advice and/or in need of getting help. More information can be found at: https://kentresiliencehub.org.uk/i-thrive/.
The Kent Therapeutic Alliance (or ‘KTA’) is a partnership between different services for children and young people in Kent who are experiencing ‘moderate’ mental health and emotional wellbeing challenges.

Mild emotional wellbeing needs might look like difficulty with mood, anxiety, behaviour, or relationships. They are having an impact on your life but perhaps they aren’t present all the time. Moderate emotional wellbeing needs might be having a more noticeable impact on your life. Don’t worry too much about this – we understand that these difficulties and challenges might be causing you considerable distress and may even change over time, so we are here to help either way.
The type of support offered depends on your needs, wishes and feelings. Support may be provided in groups or on a one-to-one basis. It is therapeutic, flexible, and evidence based (which means that research shows it is likely to help). When you make a referral, a friendly and experienced member of our team will read the form and decide which service is best. Then, we’ll think about what kind of support is likely to be most helpful based on your needs.
The KTA is available for children and young people aged 4 – 17 (in some cases, support is also available for young adults up to the age of 25). The TSS is available for children and young people aged 4 – 18 (up until the 19th birthday).

No, we have one referral form for both services. Once you fill it in, a member of our team will read it and decide which service is likely to be most helpful.

You shouldn’t have too long to wait before support begins. If you have any questions or if anything changes while you are waiting – for example, if you feel worse or any of your contact details change – please reach out to us via the ‘Contact’ page on this website.
We always try to work with the people around you to ensure that you’re getting the best possible support. However, we also respect your right to confidentiality. You can tell us on the referral form if you’d prefer to keep it confidential. If a professional is making the referral, they can tell us this on your behalf.
Please remember that we will need to contact a trusted adult if we are worried that you are at risk or if we think that you might not be able to consent to support. We will always tell you when we need to do this, unless there is an immediate concern and we think you need help urgently.
We work closely with other services to make sure you get the right support at the right time. If we don’t think our services would be helpful for you, we will help you decide what should happen next, such as a referral to the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Service (CYPMHS) or Kooth, for example.
Please see the ‘I Need Help Now’ option on our website.
You can get in contact if you have any questions about making a referral or if you need support to fill in the form. You can also talk to us if anything changes while you are waiting for support. Please see the ‘Contact’ page on this website for more information.
If you have any concerns or if you are unhappy with the service, you have a right to complain. We will take this very seriously and will support you to get your views heard. To make a complaint, please see the ‘contact’ section of this website. You can also email or write a letter to us. Complaints are treated in the strictest of confidence.
